Training Our Eyes to See God’s Goodness
This November, we’re slowing down to reflect on what it really means to cultivate gratitude. Scripture tells us to “give thanks in all circumstances,” but that kind of gratitude isn’t a one-time event–it’s a rhythm. A way of seeing God’s hand in the everyday.
Throughout this week, we’re sharing personal reflections from members of the ACO family–board members, pastors, and ministry partners who have seen God’s goodness in unexpected ways. From quiet moments of worship in Kenya to the curveballs of everyday life, their stories remind us that gratitude isn’t based on what we have, but on who God is.
Join us as we walk through these stories and rediscover the daily rhythm of giving thanks.
Four Habits That Lead Us Toward Joy
Tiny steps that align beautifully with a life of discipleship:
1. Breathe
Two minutes of quiet breathing.
Hands off the keyboard.
Heart turned toward the Lord.
Like Psalm 131:2 — “I have calmed and quieted my soul.”
2. Three Acts of Gratitude
Each day, write down three specific things God gave you today.
Not recycled blessings, today’s manna.
3. The Doubler
Spend two minutes remembering one meaningful moment from the last 24 hours.
Replay it.
Thank God for it.
Let your heart experience it twice.
4. Conscious Acts of Kindness
Every day, send one message of encouragement, gratitude, or blessing.
Think of someone in your circle of friends, your family and let them know why they matter.
This simple act is one of the strongest predictors of long-term joy.
These are not grand gestures.
These are faithful, daily choices — the kind Jesus taught when He said:
“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed.” — Matthew 13:31
Small choices.
Massive transformation.
