NEW BEGINNINGS CRISIS PREGNANCY CENTER

Pregnancy crisis centers in two of the largest affected areas of teen pregnancy in Kenya. Both centers work with young women and men to walk with them during the difficult hurdles of telling parents and friends, carrying their children to term, or post abortion counseling. The teams work in local schools and universities to raise awareness on women’s health, family planning and abstinence. SDM students are encouraged to use their talent, training and time in helping at the centers.

New Beginnings works in two cities in Kenya, Eldoret & Kilifi. Eldoret was our first center and the brainchild of Ann Indazi (wife of Victor Otieno “Little Vic”). Ann was an SDM staff who felt a calling to meet the needs of so many young ladies who would become pregnant during their time on campus or when they went home for breaks. Rape by brothers, uncles or the village drunk are prevelant in Africa. The women are shunned from their families and villages after revealing their pregnancy. The college mom is just the typical story the world over in young love, romance or the need for attention from guys. Women’s Health is a joke in our part of the world and abortions are brutal. The shame versus the risk of death or disease is the first of many impossible choices for young women. Ann and her team walk with these women through counseling in one-on-one settings, group sessions and Bible studies. The team is known to sleep on the floor of hospitals when the women go into labor. We celebrate each little one that arrives. The team does their best to help with sustainability for the woman during and after the birth of their baby, but we’re still looking for the solution of solutions. Ann and her team do marches through college campuses and cities to raise awareness that life is a choice, they teach in high schools and on campuses.
